Gareth Bale scored his first goal since August as Real Madrid bounced back from last week’s thrashing by Barcelona to secure a hard-fought 2-0 win at Eibar.
Bale headed home his third goal of the season at the end of the first half and Cristiano Ronaldo converted an 82nd-minute penalty, after Dani Garcia’s trip on Lucas Vazquez, to make sure of the points and keep Rafael Benitez’s side third in the table.
Sergio Escudero struck the only goal as Sevilla bounced back from Champions League disappointment to beat nine-man Valencia 1-0 in Nuno’s last match in charge of Los Che.
Sevilla, who lost 4-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek, should have had more to show for their dominance than Escudera’s second-half volley against the visitors, for whom Joao Cancelo (35) and Javi Fuego (78) were sent off, both for two yellow-card offences.
After the match, Nuno confirmed he had agreed to step down in a conversion with chairman Peter Lim before kick-off.
Despite the loss, Valencia remain one place and one point better off than Sevilla, who are 10th.
Aritz Aduriz tooks his goals tally for the season to 20 in all competitions as he fired a hat-trick in Atletico Bilbao’s 3-0 win at Rayo Vallecano.
Getafe secured their first win in five league games as a 2-0 home victory against Villarreal lifted them up to 13th place, four points above the relegation zone.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all netted as Barcelona eased to a 4-0 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday, keeping them in the driving seat at the top of the Primera Division.
A solitary goal by an in-form Antoine Griezmann saw Atletico Madrid overcome Espanyol to keep the pressure on Barcelona – but they were rocked by a serious injury to midfielder Tiago.
The Rojiblancos stay second in the Primera Division table thanks to the win, four points behind Barcelona and above local rivals Real Madrid, but the evening was tainted by the image of Tiago being stretchered off in the first half.
Celta Vigo owed their return to the top four to a huge slice of luck as they edged past Sporting Gijon 2-1.
Deportivo La Coruna remain three points behind Celta after a 2-0 win at Las Palmas extended their unbeaten run to four games.
Malaga remain bottom after surrendering two late goals to draw 2-2 with fellow strugglers Granada in an exciting Andalusian derby.
On Friday night, Ruben Castro’s early strike handed 10-man Real Betis a 1-0 victory but lowly Levante were left ruing a contender for miss of the season from forward Deyverson at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia.

Real Madrid Vs Getafe
Real Madrid are back to winning ways after a Humiliating four nil loss to Barcelona last week. The confidence is back, and they were able to get all three points with Bale and Ronaldo on the score sheet.
Real have been playing very well before the Sevilla game which was a major set back before losing to Barcelona.
Real Madrid will sweep this home. It looks predictable and easy for Madrid. Handicap? Maybe.
My Verdict: Real Madrid 3: 0 Getafe

Valencia Vs Barcelona
Lionel Messi was named La Liga’s best striker and best player in the 2014-15 season at the LFP (Spanish Football League) Gala Awards Ceremony on Monday, helping Barcelona to claim five prizes to rival club Real Madrid’s three.
Messi, 28, scored 43 La Liga goals last campaign as Barca won the league title as well as the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.Lionel Messi and Neymar have spoken of their disappointment that fellow Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez has not made the three-man shortlist for the 2015 Ballon d’Or. The three attackers popularly called MSN, have scored more than fifty goals collectively. For Suarez, this is a big match, he will be looking to impress once again to show the entire world why he deserves to be on the list.
The champions have won their last seven matches. The winning streak is awesome. Scoring at least three goals in almost every match put them in a very comfortable position to defend their LaLiga title.
Valencia have not been doing too good, losing out to Sevilla on their last outing. Valencia head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has brought his resigned from his post at the club earlier this week. They have managed to stun Barcelona in recent seasons, but with the emergence of Neymar, Suarez and Messi back from injury. I don’t see Valencia staging any upset. They are no match for the present Barcelona squad. I see Messi and Neymar scoring to celebrate their Ballon’Dor nominations.
My Verdict: Valencia 1: 3 Barcelona
