With our current situation in Nigeria, another religious
crisis may not be far fetched. Although the north eastern region seems peaceful
on the face value, Christians living there have been victimized severally and
they have always kept quiet due to the fact that Christianity is a religion of
peace but recent incidents is pushing them to the wall and if they decide to
fight back, our president might be
having another major crises at hand.
Zamfara state with the slogan 'farming is our pride', is a
state where the Muslims have had their grounds undoubtedly but the constitution
gives every Nigerian a right to his or her preferred religion. The Christians being victimized in Gusau the state capital
are not just the indigenes but corp's members. Starting from the camp in tsafe
where
the Nigeria christian fellowship where told to vacate the venue where
they use for midweek prayers to Gusau the state capital where the NCCF building
was demolished with the only excuse
being that they built story buildings in their community. If I may ask where in
our constitution is it written that people must erect a particular building design?
Do we no longer have the right to choose our preferred religion? Or does the
need to erect a befitting place of worship for our God disturb public
tranquility?
The Nigeria christian corpers lodge in Gusau, Zamfara state
was built from the sweat of corp members even when they were paid 10,000 naira
per month by the federal government. As
little as this money was, they tasked themselves to get the land and start
building, even after some finished serving, they came back to help just so Christians coming to the state could have a solitude. The amazing part of this
story is the fact that the government of the state has not in anyway
acknowledged the cry of this corps members.
Our Muslim corpers don't face all
the harassment, stoning and cursing the christian corps members receive.
We the corp members are tired.
If the governor of the state will not do anything to help us
because we are Christians, we will soon rise up for ourselves.
We say no to religious molestation....
We say no to victimization....
We are called to serve not to be trampled upon!!
