During a leap year it's tradition for women to propose to
their partners on February 29, reversing social norms.
One woman from Southcote did just that - but she said it
with a steak.
Joleen Williams, 37, proposed to 55-year-old Duncan
Schofield with a steak branded with the message: "Will you marry me?"
Jo popped the question to her partner of one year at her
local Beefeater restaurant, taking advantage of their 'M-engagement' proposal
package.
Duncan was presented with a 10oz steak with the branded
message, along with 'crispfetti' instead of confetti, an onion ring (in place
of a diamond ring, obviously), two bottles of beer and a 'man-sized' box of
tissues.
Another lady who took advantage of the leap year yesterday
was 35-year-old Hayley Toone, from Derbyshire, who proposed to her boyfriend
Tony following afternoon tea in a hotel.
Hayley enlisted the help of a 30-strong choir to sing Tony's
favourite Beatles tracks before turning their hymn sheets over to reveal the
proposal.
